The "Revolution Wriggle" Spotify Playlist (I Hate Radio)
The "Revolution Wriggle" Spotify Playlist
"Just Hit Play" and let Spotify take you away, or hit play, read about the bands and albums by scrolling down!
Every Tuesday (or Monday night) I put out a new curated playlist for your listening enjoyment. You can "Just Hit Play" or check out the song list below for Easter Eggs about the bands.
"I Hate Radio" is the name of the podcast I am about to start and it is a play on "I Heart Radio" in opposition to music consolidation.
Last week's playlist was my "Outlaw Pleasure Bugs" #Spotify playlist, you can listen to it HERE.
And, as always, Explore, Enjoy, and Share Music!
The Punk, Post-Punk, and Hip-Hop Songs (Click on Links for More Info!)
1. Treadmill, Mall Walk, Mall Walk EP (2014, Vacant Stare)
A good starting place, a classic indie slacker table-setter.
2. Wriggle, clipping, Wriggle (2016, Sub Pop)
This is Daveed Digs of Hamilton fame with producers William Huston and Jonathan Snipes. Good stuff!
3. BagBak, Vince Staples, Single (2017, DefJam)
Still love 90's hip-hop and Vince Staples (even if he disagrees with my on 90's hip-hop)
4. Drop, The Pharcyde, Labcabincalifornia (1995, Capital)
One of my favorite songs on one of my favorite albums, not an accident that I put it right after Vince on the playlist
5. Shake Your Rump, Beastie Boys, Paul's Boutique (1989, Capital)
Did I mention my favorite albums? I never miss an excuse to mix some Beasties in when I get the chance.
6. Turd, Charly Bliss, Single (2016, Audiotree Music)
Really interesting Brooklyn band. Just starting to get to know their music, but I like what I have heard so far!
7. Come On I'm Waiting, Communions, Blue (2017, Fat Possum)
I like Communions, not sure if I love the whole album, but I do like several songs (Blue, the new album just came out)
8. Sex, The Intelligence, Vintage Future (2015, In the Red)
Another band that I am late to the party on. Again, enjoying getting to know them
9. No Big Bang, Priests, Nothing Feels Natural (2017, Sister Polygon Records)
I might include Priests songs for a long time (they were on last week's list too). The new album is really good.
10. Liability, Fufanu, Sports (2017, One Little Indian)
I liked this album MUCH more than some of the critics. I listened several times just to be certain and I still think that it is really good!
11. Where's The Revolution, Depeche Mode, Spirit (2017, Columbia Records)
Respect, glad DM is still making new music. Looking forward to the new album.
12. Bad Bohemian, British Sea Power, Let The Dancers Inherit the Party (2017, Golden Chariot)
New stuff from British Sea Power. If you don't know them, I would suggest their "Rise of British Sea Power" album (quite good).
Wrapping It Up
If you like the playlists, share them broadly (helps the artist's get paid by Spotify).
I call my site "On Pirate Satellite" because of the song "This is Radio Clash" by The Clash
The crazy names of the playlists were inspired by Captain Beefheart.
Thanks for listening!
