Playlist: Leadbelly's 99 Cent Flashlight
by Joshua B. Hoe
Many of you will immediately recognize the Leadbelly tune from a cover by a certain Kurt Cobain. Oddly enough, I saw Shonen Knife on the bill with Nirvana many years ago (and The Breeders).
My goal on this playlist was to really bring all of my big influences together in a potent stew - everything from Blues to Funk to Hip-Hop to Punk to Electronica. I even include some of the pop influences (I do like melody sometimes).
Obviously, much of the content of my playlists is driven by my Digital Bins and my albums of the week inclusions (and anything else I blog about during the week).
I am also going to attempt to start including more interesting information in the hyperlinked portions.
1. Black Girl (In the Pines), Leadbelly, Where Did You Sleep Last Night: Leadbelly Legacy Vol. 1
