Nico Collins, Chris Curry, & Recruiting Predictions - U of M Sports News 1/12/2017

Flurry of Recruiting News

1/12/2017 - In the spirit of Mark Snyder's article today (where he suggests the entire Defense will have to be rebuilt on the fly for 2017). It seemed a good time to review the recruiting and Land of 10 did a great feature predicting the final recruits. As I read it, Michigan still has a good shot of landing: WR: Nico Collins O-Line: Mekhi Becton D-Line: Aubrey Solomon and Phillip Paea. LB: Willie Gay, D-Back: Brandon Sebastian in addition to what is already a loaded class of recruits.

In other Mekhi Becton news, he will be taking a visit to A2 soon. And finally, in other Aubrey Solomon news, Michigan Coaches will be visiting him next week. I mentioned earlier today that Michigan extended an offer to Florida RB Chris Curry.

Tyrone Wheatley Being Interviewed For the Western Michigan Job

1/12/2017 - RB De'Veon Smith caused a bit of a commotion this morning when he tweeted out the following:

It turned out that De'Veon was just wishing Coach Wheatley luck in his interview (he later confirmed this in another Tweet saying "Yes, I hope he gets the job."). But, this does mean that Coach Wheatley (Michigan's RB coach) is being interviewed for the Western Michigan job. In more recent news, stories are circulating that Michigan OC Tim Drevno may also be interested in applying for the job. UPDATE: It has been reported that Wheatley is no longer a candidate.

Dead Period Over - Harbaugh Visits Nico Collins and Michigan Offers RB Chris Curry

1/12/2017 - Chad Simmons of Scout.com reported today that Jim Harbaugh is going to visit 4-star WR Nico Collins (a more recent report said that because of the birth of his son yesterday, Harbaugh sent Tyrone Wheatley in his place). There was not much else written about this but I believe his top choice has been LSU while Michigan has been in his top five. Michigan has also extended an official offer to Chris Curry Running Back from Florida.
