I put more time and effort into these playlists than anything else I do on this site. I actually work on them all week, changing songs in and out, changing the order, and trying to make them reflect what I love about music.

Part of what I love is exploration, and every week includes artists that are new to me. I try to include new albums, new artists, and songs from new albums by new artists. Part of what I love is placing music in context. As a result, I try to ground the new music I include in the context of some of the older music that inspired it (and me). 

A huge part of my project is trying to have as much fun as I do listening to the wider world of music (the world beyond record label consolidation). Like the Clash said, I am sending transmissions from a "pirate satellite."

Last but not least, the playlist names are an homage to Captain Beefheart.
