Josh's Digital Bin #7
by Joshua B. Hoe
Week seven of my digital bin project and I love it more every week. For new people, every Tuesday I put out another edition of my Digital Bin.
The idea is to create another space for music exploration on the web, I look at each "page" out there as another digital bin to explore (just like when we used to explore the bins in record stores).
Lightning Pill
This is another in a series of people I know (or at least know from social media). I really admire how emotionally open his music is. It is hard to talk openly about many of the subjects he sings about here. I am a big fan or lyrical courage.
A Shoreline Dream
This band was suggested to me by a friend, really enjoyed this album. Kind of one of those fun messes, a bit noise, a bit rock and roll, a bit thoughtful. In the end lots of fun!
Terror Pigeon!
guess this band is really a collective and has (at times) been written up in the NYT and Stereogum, but I had never heard of them. I literally found them by doing random word searches in Bandcamp (a game I really love to play - try it, you find great stuff). They are really fun. This was a great and pleasant surprise. Enjoy!
Moondragon
Moondragon added me on Twitter, so I checked his stuff out. I have no idea if Moondragon is trying to live out a Top Gun fantasy here, but it sure sounds like the movie but in a really interesting and cool way. I really kind of dig this one!
Thao & The Get Down Stay Down
This is the new album "A Man Alive" from Thao & The Get Down Stay Down. Can't lie, I love this goofy amazing mess. So much unfettered joy. Reminds me a bit of Cibo Matto. Highly recommended.
Well, that is the end of another of Josh's Digital Bin (also known as when Josh talks about his musical choices in the third person). I hope you enjoyed it! Please support independent artists!
Did you enjoy this week's Digital Bin? What were your favorite songs from the bin? Let me know and get the discussion rolling by leaving a comment or sharing on social media!
