U Of M Basketball is "On the Bubble"

1/16/2017 - Happy MLK Day!

The Michigan Men's Basketball team has more than a few problems: they don't seem to be able to rebound, prevent penetration, intimidate those who penetrate, close out on shooters, or deny interior passing. In fairness, they are a better than average offensive team who, at times, seem capable of outscoring teams.

The good news, through some miracle, ESPN's Joe Lunardi has Michigan in the NCAA tournament as of today. Tomorrow they play Big 10 leaders #17 Wisconsin at the Kohl Center (ESPN 9:00 p.m.) so we will see what kind of changes and adjustments Coach Beilein has instituted since the Nebraska win.

Mo (Buckets) Helps Michigan Beat Nebraska

1/15/2017 - So, Michigan won the game yesterday against Nebraska (I did listen to the game but did not have time to post because of other obligations, apologies) Anyway, Our current Mo, Mo Wagner, the German Wunderkind Stretch 5 was on fire most of the game yesterday against Nebraska (he also managed to play decent Defense and manage a few blocks without fouling out).

The Defense was still mostly atrocious, Zak Irvin still has terrible judgment and plays too much hero ball, and Derrick Walton Jr. is still a mercurial point guard (to day the least) although this was a much better effort from him

I am excited that Michigan won and I hope they will continue to improve on Defense (or actually play defense). I have a hard time believing that they will be able to survive the Big 10 just by out-scoring everyone...So, I hope they start caring more about D and especially more about rebounding (yes, they still got killed on the boards by Nebraska). #GoBlue!

Michigan Makes Final Four...For Bamba

1/15/2017 - The top remaining Center/PF recruit in the nation Mo Bamba (5 Star, Westtown School PA, #2 or #3 overall) has Michigan in his final four and has said that he will make his decision towards the end of March or in early April.

Unfortunately, he is taking his official visit to Kentucky this week but earlier reports had Michigan as a leader in the contest for his services. This is probably still a long shot given that Michigan is competing with Kentucky and Duke, but remember that it was Bamba that originally reached out to Michigan expressing interest. As recently as yesterday, as Mark Snyder reported, Bamba said that the Wolverines remain a serious contender. Incoming 4 Star SG Jordan Poole is said to be in charge of lobbying Bamba to come to U of M.
