The Complete #OPS Guide to Season 2 of #MrRobot
Who Is Mr. Robot's Landlord?
How can you most easily access all of my writing about Mr. Robot?
Every time I do recaps I publish a quick reference to all of the links to my writing covering Season 2 of Mr. Robot. So, um, here is the S2 reference.
I plan to write at least two more posts on Season 2 but I will put links here as well. Click on the hyperlinks to see the original post.
Enjoy and please share (this is a labor of love but it has been a TON of work)!
If you have not seen Season 2 of Mr. Robot * Spoiler Alert *
My Interaction With Kor Adana Before Season 2
I participated in a Reddit AMA with Kor and he responded to my questions. As many of you know, I started this as a music blog and I started my interactions with Mr. Robot because of the incredible curation of music on the show. Anyway, this was his response to my music question.
The End of My Mr. Robot Summer
I wanted to get the feel of the show again before the premier so I rewatched the last episodes of Season One and wrote this post about the experience. I will include the picture I used to use for every post (because I had not started using the USA pics - classic Who Is Mr. Robot's Landlord?).
Mr. Robot eps 2.0_unm4sk-pt1.tc + pt2.tc
Season 2 Premier time, the infamous episode that at least one Redditor virtually immediately "solved." I was just a bit behind him, as you will see. Anyway, it was a great premier and these were my thoughts at the time.
All I Wanted Was a Pepsi (Hint, refers to a song by Suicidal Tendencies starting with the letter "I")
This is where I suggested my counter-theory to Elliot being in prison, my theory was that he was in a mental institution. If anyone doubted that I was on top of this after the first episode, here is the proof (Dated July 16). Obviously, I was wrong about the place but right about him being "Institutionalized."
My First Swing at the "2nd Season Blues" #MrRobot Trolls
So, I feel much of the press about Mr. Robot this season was unfair, lazy, and often clearly designed to troll people like me. This particular popular press article made me particularly angry since it was so obviously nonsense. This is my response to a particular "Mr. Robot's music is terrible" article.
Mr. Robot eps 2.1_k3nel-pan1c.ksd
In this recap, I manage to invoke Tony Robbins, Magnolia, and Noam Chomsky's "Manufacturing Consent." Oh, and I also manage to talk about Kernel Panics and the episode too. This has been one of my most popular recaps. Enjoy!
Mr. Robot eps 2.2_init_1.asec
This is my recap of the episode that birthed the instant classic slasher movie "The Careful Massacre of the Bourgeoisie" as well as the genesis of my "Dr. Strangelove Theory of Mr. Robot." This episode held the kernels of most of how the rest of the season would ultimately play out.
5 Things About "The Careful Massacre of the Bourgeoisie"
After the "asec" episode aired and showed a slice of the slasher movie, USA released the actual short film. You can see it here, and read my reactions.
The Berenstain Bears, Nelson Mandela, and Silencio
I would say that if I mad contributions to the larger Mr. Robot community this year (both here and on Reddit) they were:
1. Connecting Season 2 with David Lynch and Mulholland drive and what became my "Ray's computer" theory.
2. Explaining Elliot in the context of Dissociative Identity Disorder
3. My theories on Whiterose and the Dark Army
This post was my first (and kind of sloppy) stab at what became a much more sophisticated and explanatory theory explaining why we knew that Elliot was "Institutionalized."
I ended up being virtually 100% right about this in the end.
#MrRobot: Same Esmail, Coups, and Responsive Easter Eggs
This post is important because it is what I wrote right after Sam Esmail himself Tweeted me confirming my connection between Season 2 and David Lynch and Mulholland Drive. I am sure you can imagine that I was pretty surprised to hear from him.
I also answer a theory about a Spanish coup that was going around at about this same time.
Mr. Robot eps 2.3_Logic_b0mb.hc
So, this recap covers everything from the Dread Pirate Roberts through Time Bandits and straight to Full Metal Jacket. Oh, I also talked about the nature of "saviors" in the context of The Matrix.
This episode includes my second-favorite scene in the history of the show (Dom and Whiterose meeting in his home in China). This was one of my most popular recaps of the season.
Late Night Thoughts About Whiterose Counterfactuals and Mr. Robot
A deeper dive into the discussion between Dom and Whiterose in China (did I mention this is one of my favorite scenes on the show ever). This is also where I started to build my theory that Whiterose sees beyond the 4th wall into our worlds.
Mr. Robot eps 2.4_m4ster_s1ave.aes
This is my recap of the :"Word Up Wednesday" or "Alf" episode (which will likely go down in television history as pretty daring storytelling). Lots of important stuff gets discussed here including Natural Born Killers, Body Double, and the Big Lebowski.
This was another of my most popular recaps and is where I start discussing the larger nature of the complexity of Esmail's characters (also RIP Rodney Dangerfield).
Mr. Robot eps 2.5_h4ndshake.sme
This is my recap of arguably the most important episode of Mr. Robot to date, the episode where Mr. Robot and Elliot finally negotiate the new understanding between the two of them. This is also the episode where my "Ray's Computer Theory" was confirmed as true (not a humble brag, I am pretty proud of that).
Mr. Robot eps 2.6_succ3ss0r.p12
This is my recap of the episode where Darlene kills Susan and where I make my first truly bad guess of the season (I suggested that Angela was 'Breaking Bad').
Mr. Robot eps 2.7_init_5.fve
In this recap, I deal with admitting all of the things I messed up and all of the things I got right so far during the season. This is also the episode where Dom offers a deal to Angela and Whiterose and Price meet to plan a bailout.
Mr. Robot eps 2.8_h1dden-pr0cess.axx
This was my recap of a power-packed episode including the grounding for what became my "Dr. Strangelove Theory of Mr. Robot as well as the devastating shootout between the Dark Army, Dom, Darlene, a ketchup bottle, and Cisco (RIP).
The D.R. Congo, Dr. Strangelove, and Whiterose's Plan
This is one of the posts where I laid out my full "Dr. Strangelove" theory of Mr. Robot. Oddly enough, this one is still in play for season three.
Mr. Robot eps 2.9_pyth0n-pt1.p7z
Perhaps the most Lynchian episode of Mr. Robot ever filmed, this is my recap of the episode including the amazing scene between Whiterose and Angela Moss as well as Phillip Price's incredible play to take over the US Economy (not an exaggeration).
Mr. Robot eps 2.9_pyth0n-pt2.p7z
My recap of the controversial season two finale. Many people were hoping from Sci-Fi but this episode mostly confirmed my "Occam's Razor" theory of Mr. Robot.
David Foster Wallace and the David Lynch in Mr. Robot
So, I decided to tackle a subject that was the underpinning of much of my writing all season, the relationship between David Lynch and Mr. Robot Season 2. Luckily, I had some help from the late great David Foster Wallace (RIP).
Mr. Robot vs. Matt Zoller Seitz
As promised, my response to the criticisms of Season 2 of Mr. Robot by the classy critic Matt Zoller Seitz (Vulture, NY Magazine, RogerEbert.com). Mr. Seitz responded and so did Sam Esmail (very flattering!).

Well, that is most of it. Hopefully, that helps you in gaining a deeper understanding of Season 2 of Mr. Robot. I am currently doing recaps of AMC's Halt and Catch Fire and am about to start doing recaps of Netflix "Luke Cage" and The Cw's "The Flash."
Previously, I have done recaps of the HBO shows "Vinyl" and "Game of Thrones."
Every week I release a curated #Spotify playlist and several music-oriented posts.
And of course, be ready for S3 of "Who's Mr. Robot's Landlord?"
I hope you will become a fan of OnPirateSatellite and thank you for all the support this season!
