Playlist: Chinese Fashion Rock Outfit

Adore Life by Savages uploaded by Joshua B. Hoe

by Joshua B. Hoe

This weeks playlist was heavily influenced by the recent death of David Bowie.

It pays direct homage in the Bowie, Iggy Pop, and Devo tracks and indirect homage in the Bauhaus, NIN, and Savages tracks.

MG is, of course, the great Martin Gore of Depeche Mode fame.

1. Elk, MG, MG 2. Dark Entries, Bauhaus, In The Flat Field 3. The Answer, Savages, Adore Life 4. Got Em' Covered, Pusha T, Darkest Before Dawn 5. Mongoloid, Devo, Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! 6. Chinese Rocks, Johnny Thunders and The Heartbreakers, LAMF 7. March Of The Pigs, Nine Inch Nails, The Downward Spiral 8. Shake Appeal, Iggy & The Stooges, Raw Power (Legacy Edition, Bowie Mix) 9. Morgan, Cloud Nothings, Turning On 10. Wolf Like Me, TV On The Radio, Return to Cookie Mountain 11. There Goes My Outfit, The Dears, Gang of Losers 12. Fashion (1999 Remastered Version), David Bowie, Scary Monsters

I like TV On The Radio and am a big fan of The Dears and that whole Canadian wave that started around 2008 (Metric, Stars, Broken Social Scene, The Dears).

I also like trying to demonstrate to the folks at Guitar Hero that there are (and have always been) people of color playing rock music. Yes GH I realize you have Kravitz.

Just because The Oscars are virtually all-white, you can be better Guitar Hero.

Always loved Johnny Thunders and Richard Hell.

Cloud Nothings are one of my favorite bands, and this song was the first hint of what they would become (they played around with a brighter sound for a bit).

RIP beloved Spaceman David Bowie!
